Last night I picked up Amanda and we went to Philly so I could see Bob Nanna's The City On Film play again. We got a little lost becuase we missed a turn, but we found the venue eventually. It was just some person's house, and the show was in the living room. I guess Rescue didn't fix their van, because only Nathaniel somethingorother played before TCOF. There wasn't room to set up other instruments so his drummer played the tamborine. After that, Bob Nanna played without his band, except he had the violinist with him for a few songs. He did a bunch of the same songs from the night before, which sounded great acoustic. Then he opened up the floor to requests, I suggested "quit" but was shot down. He played Stay Six, Boy Destroyer, and We Lie Half The Time. When he asked for requests again, someone said "play you're favorite song" and he said "I don't know how to play my favorite song." It was pretty cool watching him play on a couch two feet away from me with, like, 11 other people. I think Amanda and I were the only ones that didn't know the people that lived there. After he finished playing, I bought some Braid posters and then Amanda and I got lost in Philly for about 45 minutes because we suck and we're from New Jersey. Eventually we got home.
Today at work, I worked with Tom and his boss Joe, who gave me a copy of his son band's CD from 1999. It sounds like a cross between The Presidents of the United States of America and The Aquabats and I loved it, so he gave it to me. Sweet fucking deal. After work I went to Caroline's, then we went to Tom Olsen's apartment to play poker. I actually won! I never win. Now I'm $15 richer. Go me.
